The Act received royal assent on 7 th April 2005. The Act contains a new regulatory system to govern the provision of all gambling in Great Britain, other than the National Lottery and spread betting. The Gambling Act 2005 (â��the Actâ��) gives effect to the Governmentâ��s proposals for reform of the law on gambling. Therefore, where a section or a part of a section does not seem to require any explanation or comment, none is given. They are not, and are not meant to be, a comprehensive description of the Act. These notes should be read in conjunction with the Act.
